Changing how we support people living with dementia - the virtual dementia tour

An estimated 1.2 million people are involved in caring for a person with dementia. This figure grows when considering people who haven’t been diagnosed yet.
With no cure in sight, how do organisations effectively strive to understand, accept and respond positively to people with dementia and their families?
The Virtual Dementia Tour® is a scientifically proven method of building greater understanding of dementia by using patented sensory tools and instruction. Churches of Christ Care has recently licensed the Virtual Dementia Tour®, created by P.K. Beville, M.S., an award-winning geriatric specialist and founder of Second Wind Dreams®.
The tour gives people insight into how dementia impacts cognition, physical health, behaviour, and emotional state. This creates a personal connection to the experience of dementia and can improve support for people living with dementia.
This poster presents information on the tool and its initial impacts as we roll it out across our workforce.
